Arunodaya Charitable Trust (ACT) mobile eye care programme has been designed to provide comprehensive eye care services, for the poor and needy, who come for their ocular (eye related) problems from the villages & slums, in its area of operation.
It has a dedicated mobile eye care system, consisting of a mobile ambulance, which is equipped with latest eye testing equipment, provision to transport the ophthalmic team to the various eye camp sites in different villages and to bring the poor patients who need surgical intervention / treatment, to the base hospital in Gurgaon (ADEH) or in Delhi.
The mobile ophthalmic team consists of an ophthalmologist, provides primary & in some cases secondary eye care services, at the camp site. Those patients who need further management – surgical, etc., are provided transportation, where possible, to the base hospital (ADEH).
The physicians, who on request accompany the team to the village camp(s), provide screening services for hypertension, diabetes and other local diseases. The needy patients are referred to our base hospital, like ADEH, where indicated.
Awareness generation programme, an important aspect of our out reach programme, rely on Community Health Workers (CHW), volunteers from the villages, NGO’s, etc.
Posters and information leaflets are used to reinforce their efforts. Awareness generation about regular preventive check up at the local camp sites or ADEH, when possible, to decrease the onset of complications due to conditions like late stage cataract, glaucoma, corneal ulcers and other eye related problems.
The out reach programme encourages the participation of corporate / volunteers to support the out reach programme. |
